Whatever the circumstances, there's always that extra buzz when watching a game involving the former FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year. There was already a universal belief within the game that Torrens was a special talent going back to early 2010, when she won the FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year award after a magical youth career. She then stepped out at the Olympic Games in Beijing as an 18-year-old before helping Spain seal bronze a year later at EuroBasket Women and then again in 2010 at the FIBA World Championship. By 2011, she was crowned a EuroLeague Women champion and was named MVP of the Final Four. Having been snapped up by Turkish giants Galatasaray, an ACL injury during early in 2012 effectively meant a year on the sidelines and no participation in last summers' qualifiers. She's still looking to ease her way back to her explosive best and certainly there are few players more fun to watch when in full flow than Torrens. She loves to run the the floor and revels in exploiting fast break opportunities. She has quick hands on defence and an eye for a spectacular play. A return to top gear could easily coincide with a return to challenging for the podium for Spain.
