Dominguez Heads West

6. Silvia Dominguez (Ros Casares)
Silvia Dominguez has been offered to play for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA.

Silva Dominguez may not feature for Spain this summer in the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round because the star point guard of EuroLeague Women champions Ros Casares is off on a new adventure.

The 25-year-old has been offered a deal to play for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA.

Spain will miss Dominguez, a linchpin in the side who in 2011 also helped fire Halcon Avenida to the EuroLeague Women crown, if she isn't able to represent her country in EuroBasket Women 2013 qualifying games against Bulgaria, Sweden, Germany and Romania.

The Spaniards' first game will be against the Bulgarians on 13 June.

"I spoke to the (Spanish) federation and explained and they understood it was a good opportunity," Dominguez said this week to Basketball World News.

Seattle coach Brian Agler watched Dominguez score 11 points and hand out seven assists for Ros Casares in Valencia on 1 February when they blew out Galatasaray, 98-80.

"She's more of a floor general-type point guard, although she can score," Agler said.

"She can make her teammates better and she's a great competitor."

Dominguez followed her second straight title-winning triumph in the EuroLeague Women with another championship in the Spanish League (Liga Femenina).

She was at the controls as Ros Casares swept her former team, Perfumerias Avenida, 2-0.

Ann Wauters, the Belgium international and Ros Casares teammate of Dominguez's, will also play for Seattle.
