Carlos Arroyo has quashed media speculation that he is out of favor at Besiktas after playing for just four minutes in the team's 78-77 defeat to Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada on Tuesday night.

Besiktas had gone into the clash needing to win by three points to clinch first place and Arroyo, though struggling at times this season, has had a prominent role with the team.

His lack of time on the court left some wondering if he had fallen out of favor with coach Ergin Ataman, but the Puerto Rican playmaker said: "Nothing of that sort.

"Everything here is very well. It's just that I tried to play with a slight injury and I couldn't."

Arroyo, 32, replaced Deron Williams on the Besiktas roster after the American returned to the New Jersey Nets following the end of the NBA lockout.

He is shooting 38.5% (20 of 52) from the floor in the EuroChallenge and averaging 10 points, 2.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds.

By finishing second to Fuenlabrada in Group K, Besiktas must play in a best-of-three Quarter-Final with Artland Dragons and the German side has home-court advantage.

That series tips off on March 13 in Quakenbr├╝ck.

Artland may have the fans behind them in the opening game but they won't be fooled into thinking Besiktas are just any opponents.

"Now we have to play the strongest team in the competition, Besiktas, which has a Euroleague roster," Artland coach Stefan Koch said.

"But it's a great challenge and we have home-court advantage.

"So we will try to knock them out."
