Totally unknown in Europe until 2004, Mickaël Gelabale blossomed at Madrid under the tutelage of Bozidar Maljkovic. His great defensive and athletic skills, combined with a good basketball IQ, led him to be the 48th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. Mickaël started to find his place in Seattle during his sophomore season, but a very bad knee injury in March 2008 put his NBA dreams in jeopardy. After almost two years without basketball, Gelabale came back to his beloved Cholet club in late 2009 and helped them win an improbable Championship trophy in early June. Mickaël moved to ASVEL last summer. His club had a tough season, but Gelabale showed he has recovered totally by averaging 16.2 points (shooting 57%) and 5.7 rebounds to end-up with the French league MVP trophy. If the lock-out doesn't last too long, Gelabale is bound to re-join the NBA next year.
