Like Jerôme Moïso a few years ago, Johan Petro is expected to become a kind of Messiah for a French basketball world that always lacked inside force. At 19, Johan has the potential to become THE ONE everybody is waiting for. But will this young man, who got selected by the Sonics with the 25th choice of the last NBA Draft, turn out into another NBA journeyman or into a real inside force? Flip the coin! Last summer, it fell on both sides. At the U18 European Championship Men, Petro was invisible in a crucial semi-final game against Turkey (6 pts / 7 rbs) before being outstanding in the Bronze Medal game vs Italy: 24 points and 22 rebounds! Can move and jump as a small forward. Has good moves around the basket and a more than decent shooting range. That should turn him into an NBA All-Star player. But Johan can also disappear for a whole game like Moïso does… |
