Career: G.C.Kastorias (Greece-Division C,1994-1998), Iraklis Thessaloniki (Greece-HEBA A1, 1999-2004), Panathinaikos BC (Greece-HEBA A1, 2004-…).
Already labelled as a future Greek star, EuroBasket may well be his national team breakthrough. Diamantidis (his surname means the Diamond man) has proved himself to be a real diamond for Greek basketball. Three years ago, ex-national team coach Yannis Ioannidis forecasted that “Diamantidis is the player of the future”, and just two years later, the Greek diamond made “blondie’s” words come true. After spending 5 season with Iraklis, coming from a small team in Kastoria, he was transferred to Panathinaikos and from a child became a man. Last season’s best defensive player in the Euroleague is an award that many players would like to take and Diamantidis got the nod. Great passer, an even better thief, he is making progress every year with his shooting skills. His huge hands help him steal and rebound the ball. Together with Papaloukas makes a great “couple” at the point guard.
