The longest tenured player on the Croatian national team, Ukic has been in service for his country for more than a decade. The veteran point guard made his national team debut in 2002, and Ukic is now in for his eighth major tournament even though he is only 30. He has great passion - for the game and about the game - and with his experience of playing at the top level for so long, Ukic has embraced the role of a team captain, and has grown into a leader of the team, both on and off the court. Unfortunately for Croatia, Ukic has been slowed by injuries in recent years, which made him miss EuroBasket 2011, and portions of every season since. But he is still a workhorse for his country, as he played the second-most minutes of all Croatian players in the last two competitions combined.
