Pietrus made his senior debut for France against Hungary in 2001 and is in line to make his seventh appearance at a EuroBasket. He was part of the French team which won bronze in 2005, silver in 2011 and gold in 2013, and made his 194th appearances in helping secure World Cup bronze in 2014. His club career has been divided between France and Spain, starting off in the junior programme at Pau Orthez before making his professional bow in 1999, earning Pro A titles in 2001, 2003 and 2004, as well as the French Cup in 2002 and 2003. In the Spanish ACB, he won the title with Malaga in 2006 and the Eurocup with Valencia in 2010. His younger brother Mickaël was also a long-time French international, who played in the NBA from 2003-13 while elder brother Ronnie also played professionally.
