PLAYER HISTORY
Ieva Kublina

Career: TTT/Rapa Riga (Latvia-LSBL, 1997-2000), Virginia Tech (USA-NCAA, 2000-04), DKSK Miskolc (Hungary-A Division, 2004), Lietuvos telekomas Vilnius (Lithuania-LMKL, 2004-06), USO Mondeville (France-LFB, 2006-07)

Kublina is a fierce rebounder who can win every battle under the boards and can make a significant contribution on the score sheet as well, especially at crucial moments of games. The Riga native is an outstanding three-point shooter which is an impressive weapon considering her size and allows her to play any position from center to small forward. 20 years ago Kublina’s mother was a part of the world famous team at TTT Riga and since the age of 16 Kublina has been a key member of Latvian cadet and junior teams. She spent four years at Virginia Tech University where she was one of the best forwards in the NCAA. In 2004 Kublina became the first Latvian to be drafted by a WNBA club when the Indiana Fever took her with the 31st pick though she never played an official game. Since returning to Europe coaches of different clubs have struggled to find the best way to use her skills. But as a member of her National Team, Kublina is irreplaceable.  2007 was her best season in Europe to this point and EuroBasket Women 2007 will be a good opportunity for her to build on that progress.
