Czech Republic's worldly-wise captain Lubos Barton added another chapter to his storied career at EuroBasket 2013, knocking down a game-winning corner three to defeat Poland in a thriller. It was the first Czech win on the big stage in 14 years since a 19-year-old Barton racked up a combined 50 points in upset victories against Lithuania and Greece. This will be the savvy verteran's fourth EuroBasket, and Barton's dedication to the national team has never been in doubt over the course of 16 years of service. After he left his native land in 1998, he spent time in the NCAA and Italy before finding a home in Catalonia, first with Joventut and Barcelona later. National team success is perhaps the only thing eluding him as he has won almost everything else: the 2010 Euroleague and the 2009 ACB League with FC Barcelona, as well as the 2008 ULEB Cup and the 2006 FIBA Europe EuroCup with Joventut Badalona. Barton has now returned to his homeland, bringing his experience to the locker-room of national champions CEZ Nymburk.
