The MVP of the 2001 Suproleague Final Four and the 2006 EuroCup Final Four, Ariel McDonald has been making a name for himself in Europe for more than a decade.

McDonald keyed Akasvayu Girona's run to the EuroCup title. He scored 25 points in the final to go along with 21 in the semis. McDonald made 10-of-16 three-pointers in the semis in title game combined.For the EuroCup season, he averaged 12.9 ppg. He played in the EuroCup All Star game.

In 2002, after a very good second season with Israel's "Eternal Champs" (12.2 ppg shooting 48.1% from the field), McDonald was on fire during the last weeks of the season. In the Play-Offs, he was the top scorer of his team in three of the four games, even pouring in 23 points in Wroclaw to get Maccabi past the Eighth Finals.

The former University of Minnesota graduate (he took his college to the NIT title in 1992-93) spent three years in Ljubljana when he first came to Europe. It was just the time for him to win three Slovenian Championships in a row before joining Maccabi. In addition, McDonald reached the Euroleague Final Four in 2000 and 2002. In total, he played 139 games, scoring 1606 points for Maccabi Tel Aviv in three years. Finally he said goodbye and moved to one of Maccabi's biggest rivals: Panathinaikos. With Panathinaikos Ariel McDonald put up solid numbers and also 19 points in the first game he played against former team Maccabi Tel Aviv. Since 2005, McDonald has been with Girona.
