Uni Seat Györ tried to play the role of spoiler on Thursday night but Bourges Basket survived in another tense EuroLeague Women game for the French giants.

The Hungarian team lead by 10 points late in the first half but Bourges battled back and won 72-66.

Valérie Garnier's team won their fifth game in 10 games in a tough Group A and stayed a game adrift of ZVVZ USK Prague (6-4).

By the end of Round 1, the top four sides in each of the three groups and the two best fifth-place teams will progress to the Round 2.

Bourges are walking a fine line with games remaining against Lotos Gdynia, Ros Casares, Galatasaray and VICI Aistes.

After going to half-time with a 43-34 lead, Györ managed to keep their noses in front until 23 seconds remained in the third quarter.

That's when Celine Dumerc, not long back from injury, struck from long range to pull Bourges level at 54-54.

Neither sided registered a point in the fourth quarter until 7:29 remained.

Ieva Kublina went up for a shot and missed, but grabbed the rebound and put it back up and in.

After Quanitra Hollingsworth missed a lay-up for Györ, Kublina got the rebound and not long after, Kiesha Brown made a lay-up for a four-point Bourges advantage.

Bourges had the lead for good.

The closest the home side would get the rest of the way was at 61-60 with 4:21 to play after Iva Ciglar caught a pass from Barbara Semsei and scored on a drive.

Bourges called a timeout.

When play resumed, Brown scored on a lay-up and was fouled.

She made the free-throw for a three-point play.

Endene Miyem then went in for a lay-up to stretch the advantage to 66-60.

Miyem was also fouled on the play and made the free-throw to push the advantage to seven.

Twice in the last minute, Györ got as close as four points, but each time they fouled an opponent and the Bourges players made two free throws each.

Brown's 17 points led Bourges while Miyem scored 12, grabbed five boards, dished out five assists and came up with four steals.

Hollingsworth, the Week 9 MVP, did her chances of earning that honour again no harm by pouring in 19 points and corralling 15 rebounds.

Ciglar had 17 points for the hosts, who fell to 2-8.
