|Amaya Valdemoro put aside concerns of a long term injury.|
Amaya Valdemoro has allayed concerns that she could be sidelined for an indefinite period with the injury she picked up in Rivas Ecopolis' victory over MKB Euroleasing Sopron on Thursday night.
Coach Javier Fort revealed his star was hurting after the game but Valdemoro said to Basketball World News on Friday: "It's not too much, just a muscle contracture, the muscle is tight. I'll miss no more than one week, I think."
The triumph over Sopron was crucial because it marked a third win in Group B and solidified the Spanish team's hold on fourth place.
Rivas take on Cadí La Seu this weekend in Spain's Liga Femenina.
Schio Need A Stronger Finish
The way Beretta-Famila Schio finished their game at home against Gorzow in EuroLeague Women Group D left much to be desired for the coaching staff.
The Italians, who won the game, 79-66, were outscored 13-4 in the last 10 minutes.
A lack of concentration and execution like that in future games could cost them dearly.
"We are certainly pleased with the victory," assistant coach Giustino Altobelli said.
"But we cannot and must not be allowed to drop for the last quarter with only four points scored."
When considering that Gorzow played without Yelena Leuchanka, one of the best players in the world, and Kalana Greene - Gorzow acquitted themselves well.
They are nevertheless now in big trouble when it comes to advancing to the play-offs.
With three games remaining, Gorzow are 2-5 and trail a hot Nadezhda (3-4).
Next week is a must-win game at Frisco Sika Brno and they follow with clashes at home against Ros Casares and away to Nadezhda.
Beretta-Famila Schio, Ros Casares and Bourges are 5-2 and at the top of pool.
