Kostas Papanikolaou and Nikos Pappas were the lynchpins in Missas team

Greece went down 73-62 to France in the final to lose their title, but Missas was nevertheless proud of what they had done.

"It was a successful tournament to reach the final and win the silver medal," he said.

"The most important thing to me is that we were playing very good basketball. To the world, the European Championship for Men showed that the level is rising."

And Missas also feels the future is bright for Greek basketball.

"A lot of the players were born in 1994, 95 and around then," he said.

"The diversity of this particular generation...given their treatment and conditioning and the events they've taken part in, compared to the old generation, these guys are men already. They have faced everything."
