Regular Season Week Six Preview

EUROCUP WOMEN

There are just four spots left to fill for the EuroCup Women Eighth Finals on the eve of the last week of the regular season.

8. Cleopatra Forsman-Goga (Telge Basket)
Cleopatra Forsman-Goga and Telge Basket can advance to the Eighth-Finals with a win over Horizont

With Kayseri Kaski spor safely qualified in a three team Group E, it's now a straight fight between Horizont Minsk and Telge Basket to avoid being the odd one out.

If the first match-up is anything to go by, there could be a real treat for fans in Minsk. Telge Basket sneaked the opening meeting between the teams 71-69 and this is a straightforward fight to advance with no need to think about any kind of goal average or anything of this nature.

Dynamo Moscow have safely punched their ticket in Group G and it has left the other three teams currently locked together but whatever happens, there can't still be a three way tie by the time the curtain is drawn on the Regular Season phase.

VS Prague will advance with a win over Basket Landes, regardless of the other result as they hold the tie-breaker over Partizan Galenika.

Partizan progress if they beat Dynamo Moscow and Basket Landes beat VS Prague.

Basket Landes need to beat VS Prague and hope for Dynamo Moscow to beat Partizan in order to advance.

In three-team Group H, Antakya have one foot and four toes in the Eighth-Finals due to their superior goal average meaning that if they did lose to MBK Ruzomberok, they would still advance in a subsequent tie unless they were subjected to a mind-boggling blowout of epic proportions.

If the Slovakian visitors lose, they are out and it means that Vilnius Kibirkstis (who will no doubt be waiting anxiously for news) will make it through.

Antakya have to overcome an eventful past week or so, since having parted ways with head coach Levent Deringol, they surprisingly lost to Vilnius and then slumped to an uninspiring 2 and 4 record in the Turkish League with a 71-60 defeat at Ceyhan Belediye at the weekend.

However, they are looking to re-enforce their roster with the acquisition of teenage Montenegrin talent Ana Turcinovic from Elitzur Ramla.

Whether Turcinovic is going to be cleared to play on Thursday is uncertain due to the licensing process.

There are of course a number of other games taking place which don't affect qualification matters but will of course still affect subsequent rankings for the Eight Finals.

In Group A, it looks like Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration should have little problems in cruising

15. Tea Joergensen (SISU)
Tea Joergensen and SISU are looking for their first win in their last game of this year's EuroCup Women

past winless SISU Gentofte on their home floor, especially after being boosted by their terrific win against Bourges in the French League over the weekend - whilst Chevakata may find it more difficult on the road at Satu Mare.

Hainaut Basket and Olimpia Grodno have already advanced from Group B, with Grodno and Ted Ankara already finished with their Regular Season play.

The only remaining fixture is the French club heading to Lotto Young Cats who are no doubt hoping they can end the campaign as it started it - with a victory.

There's another Belgian and French Match up in Group C where Belfius Namur will be hoping they can finish on a high after a difficult first five games by beating Tarbes GB for their first win of the season. In the other game, the already qualified Mersin look to complete the double over visiting Spartak Noginsk.

Group D panned out as most expected with Dynamo GUVD and Nantes Reze progressing. The former host TSV Wasserburg and the latter travel to basement dwellers BBC Sint-Katelijne-Waver.

Dunav 8806 Ruse missed out in Group F and they couldn't have asked for a more difficult finish to their regular season when they make the trip to defending champions Dynamo Kursk.
