Family Illness Forces Serbia’s Musovic To Return Home

Miljana Musovic has parted company with EuroCup Women side Covibar Rivas Ecopolis and returned home to Serbia.

The 1.81m guard, one of Serbia's leading players in their successful EuroBasket Women 2009 qualifying campaign, went home at Christmas and discovered that a member of her family was ill.

The player was so affected by the news that she asked her Spanish club to end her contract in order to go back home and be with her family at this difficult time.

"Covibar Rivas wishes to thank Miljana Musovic for her efforts and professionalism she showed in the months she has been with the team," a statement from the club said.

"We hope her situation that she is currently going through will evolve in the best possible way. The club hopes to have the services of the talented Serbian in the future."

Musovic joined Rivas from Olesa Espanyol earlier in the campaign and averaged 9.8 points and 3.5 assists in 23.6 minutes per game in the EuroCup Women.

Rivas exited the competition in the Sixteenth-Finals following a 141-128 defeat on aggregate to K.V. Imperial AEL.

Last summer for Serbia, the 21-year-old averaged 12 points in 30.2 minutes per game.

Serbia will take on Lithuania, Turkey and defending champions Russia in EuroBasket Women Group C in Valmiera when the event tips off on June 7.
