Latvia To Meet Ukraine For Fifth

Sabine Niedola had another outstanding showing in leading Latvia to a 83-73 over-time victory over Lithuania to reach the Fifth Place Game of the U20 European Championship for Women, where they will meet Ukraine.

Niedola gathered 21 points, 22 rebounds and five steals - the 17-year-old Latvian star talent's sixth game with at least 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Late Latvia Run Too Much For Italy

Diana Ozolina, Sabine Niedola and Baiba Eglite combined for 60 points as Latvia knocked off hosts Italy 77-68 at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Niedola led the way with 20 points and 17 rebounds for Latvia, who finished third in the Qualifying Round Group E with a 2-3 record. Ozolina had 22 points and Eglite tallied 18 for the Baltic nation.

Milovanovic, Petrovic Deliver For Serbia

Jelena Milovanovic and Sonja Petrovic refused to let Serbia lose, coming up with a number of big shots in Serbia's 61-57 victory over Latvia at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Milovanovic collected 23 points while Petrovic had 18 points, 13 rebounds and three foul shots in the final 15 seconds for the runners-up from last summer.

17-Year-Old Trio Thrills U20 Level

National basketball federations often promote their youth players to older age groups during the summer European Championships season to get a taste of the levels of competition awaiting them.

But a trio of players at the U20 European Championship for Women have shown that they more than belong at this level already - despite all three being the tender age of 17.
