Blake Schilb has provided Elan Chalon with many a highlight in his time with the club and on Tuesday night, he served up another.
Schilb drilled a game-winning jumper in the waning seconds for Chalon in a 75-73 victory over French rivals Chorale Roanne in the EuroChallenge Quarter-Final opener.
The Coupe de France MVP of last season, Schilb finished with a game-high 25 points.
Malcolm Delaney also had a terrific night for Chalon with 18 points and 10 boards.
In a tight game from start to finish, Roanne managed to go in front by seven early in the fourth quarter but did not press home the advantage.
Their last lead came with 1:31 to go after a three-pointer from Dylan Page made it 71-70.
Schilb went to the other end and buried a three to put Chalon back in front.
Rashad Wright knotted the game at 73-73 with a jumper for Roanne just 14 seconds from the end but Schilb put the hosts back in front with the last points of a thrilling contest.
John Holland had one final attempt to tie the game for Roanne but was off target.
Roanne were just 12 of 21 at the free-throw line for a woeful 57.1% while Chalon were an excellent 22 of 24 (91.7%).
Gregor Beugnot's team will hit the road on Thursday and try to sweep Roanne in the best-of-three series.
