Haris Mujezinovic guided Proteas EKA AEL to a critical 85-77 road win over Allianz Swans to see them progress from EuroChallenge Group D in second place.
After BC Siauliai earlier edged out EiffelTowers 82-80 to leave both teams at 4-2, the pressure was on Proteas to respond or face elimination.
But respond they did, coming from behind in the final quarter to claim victory on the back of 28 points from Mujezinovic.
Allianz Swans led 73-70 after Deteri Mayes' jump shot with 4:56 to go, but Mujezinovic's lay-up sparked an 8-0 run that turned the game in Proteas' favour.
Matthias Mayer would close the gap back to three, 80-77, with 1:35 to go, but Mujezinovic nailed a three-pointer and Darrel Mitchell followed it with a pair of free throws to ice the win.
Vujadin Subotic had 12 points and Quincy Taylor 11 for Proteas.
Mayes led Allianz Swans with 21 points while Anthony Fisher chipped in with 15 and Elijah Palmer 11.
The win sees Proteas join Siauliai and EiffelTowers at 4-2 but they edge out Siauliai to take second place.
