Russia has been a happy hunting ground for Hapoel Tel Aviv this season. They defeated Ural Great early on in the FIBA Europe League in Perm and beat Dynamo Moscow away in the play-offs. Today in Kazan, they beat Ural Great for the 2nd time to claim 3rd place in the FEL.
Unics Kazan did what everybody expected them to do at home in the final four of the FEL, defeat Russian rivals Ural Great Perm and advance to Saturday’s final.
He has known the taste of victory since before his debut with the Soviet Union national team at the 1968 World Championships in Uruguay. He honed his taste for it through four European Championship victories and as a key player in the Soviet defeat of the United States in the 1972 Olympic Final.
“My philosophy is what is most important: winning,” Belov said.
The Russian city of Kazan will host the FIBA Europe League Final Four this Thursday and Saturday. Unics Kazan, Ural great Perm, TIM-Maroussi and Hapoel tel Aviv will all compete for the title, in what promises to be a thrilling 2 days of basketball.
