Classification Round-Up: Spain Grab 5th, Italy 7th

Spain beat Russia 92-83 in the 5th-6th place game at the U18 European Championship Men 2009 in Metz, France.

The Spanish took an 18-8 lead courtesy of Joan Llovet with 2:26 left in the first quarter but Russia came back in the second period, tying the game at 27 with just over seven minutes remaining before the break.

Classification Round-Up: Spain, Russia To Battle For 5th

Spain will face Russia in Sunday's 5th-6th place game at the U18 European Championship Men 2009 in Metz, France.

The Spaniards beat Italy 84-72 thanks to some balanced scoring which saw five players score in double-digits.

France Hang On To Beat Russia, Clinch Semis Spot

France just about held on to beat Russia 74-61 in the quarter-finals at the U18 European Championship Men 2009 in Metz, France.

The hosts led by as many as 21, 52-31, midway through the third quarter but then Russia went on a 16-0 run to close within 52-47 on Dmitry Kulagin's corner three-pointer with just over a minute left in the period.

Russia Surge Seals Win Over Latvia

Russia went on an incredible run midway through the second half to take the lead and then cruise to a 72-58 win over Latvia in the Qualifying Round at the U18 European Championship Men in Hagondange, France.

The Russians, who were playing catch-up for much of the first two and a half quarters, scored 18 consecutive points to turn a 39-37 deficit into a 55-39 lead over a period of more than six minutes and 30 seconds spanning the second part of the third quarter and the early part of the final period.
