The result saw Greece hold on to their Division A status while the loss for Israel - combined with Ukraine's 79-70 win over the Czech Republic - saw them fall to 1-2 only good enough for third place and more importantly relegate them to Division B. |

The Greeks entered this game needing to beat their opponents by at least five points in order to move on to the next round, while a loss by four points or less would see Bulgaria advance. |

Enes Kanter had a monster game with 22 points and 22 rebounds to lead Turkey past Greece 78-74 on the opening day of the U18 European Championship Men 2009, in Metz, France. Greece got off to a quick start, taking a 22-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Turks fought their way back behind Can Mutaf and Kanter to go into the break on top, 40-37. |
