GAME REPORT

Bilan And Brown Put Apoel To The Sword

Miro Bilan and Brandon Brown teamed up to lead BC Zadar to a comfortable win over Apoel to get them off the mark in EuroChallenge Group G.

Bilan poured in 23 points and Brown added 20 as Zadar ran out 95-73 victors.

The result was all but secured as early as the second quarter, as Zadar scored the first 15 points of the period to take a commanding 42-23 lead, the run capped by a towering dunk from Brown.

Apoel briefly rallied, but would never get the gap back into single figures as Zadar cruised home.

The hosts almost pulled 30 points clear at one stage, with a pair of free throws from Ivan Batur midway through the final quarter putting them up 90-61, and although Apoel finished strong, they will take little comfort from this defeat.

Ive Ivanov also reached double figures for Zadar with 11 points.

Kevin Tiggs led Apoel with 17 points while Ian Hanavan had 14 and Zvonko Buljan and Jeremiah Davis finished with 10 apiece.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes BC Zadar vs. Apoel

Danijel Jusup, head coach BC Zadar:

"This was psihologically a very difficult game for us especially because we lost a few games before. I convinced my players that they can do better than the games before, they figured it all, and I think that we are on good way.I gave some rest to my main players, young ones got a chance to play and thats another good thing."

Ivan Tomas, BC Zadar:
"We played well and won, but this team is not bad at all, they have some good players. I am very satisfield with my time on the court because its been a long time that I havent played some serious basketball."

Yannis Christopoulos, head coach Apoel:
"Congratulations to Zadar, they played hard in defense and offense, very aggresive, they forced us to turn over for 25 times, and that's a lot. We didn't control the tempo of the game, our defense was poor, and if you receive 80 or 90 points like us, its difficult to win, especially on the road."

Joel Hanavan, Apoel:
"Zadar played a good game, they played a good team effort, and we didnt show a few neccesary things to compete. We can learn from this game, work hard and we are looking forward to the next game. Congratulations to Zadar, now we know what we must do better."
