EuroLeague Women side Fenerbahce made a major move to add depth to their frontcourt by acquiring Belarus national team power forward Sviatlana Volnaya.

The 28-year-old Volnaya, who helped Belarus to the bronze medal at the 2007 EuroBasket Women in Italy, comes to the Turkish club after leaving Dynamo Moscow. She will help fill the void of injured Nalan Ramazanoglu.

"We really want to finish in second place and get home court advantage for the play-offs. And I'm sure Svetlana will help. Of course it's too early to know how much she will help. We will see together," Fenerbahce Executive Director Dilli Remzi told fibaeurope.com.

Fenerbahce are 5-2 and in second place in Group A ahead of their game on Wednesday at TTT Riga.

The 1.87m Volnaya was a EuroLeague Women All-Star last season at USK Prague but struggled at the EuroBasket Women.

She averaged 3.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 18 minutes per game for Dynamo Moscow.

Volnaya has been registered for the EuroLeague Women but Remzi said he is still waiting for the letter of clearance from the Russian Basketball Federation, which on Monday was celebrating Christmas.

Volnaya has travelled to Riga in the hope of playing with her new team.
