GAME REPORT

Lithuania-Germany Postgame Quotes

Lithuania

Coach Ramunas Butautas: "We played well in the start of the game. In the middle we started to have some problems. We had too much focus on Dirk Nowitzki and forgot the other players, who hit two or three unreal shots. We just played up and down. So the finish of the game was really big for us and now we can focus on our next opponent."

Power Forward Darius Songalia: "We won and we had a very decent game. We had some problems shooting but a victory is the best way of getting into the second round of a tournament. They just made some great shots but we did a pretty good job. We always had a man on (Dirk Nowitzki), that was the key that we stopped him quite well.”

Guard Sarunas Jasikevicius: "We just need to keep plugging along. Over the past three days we've come together as a team. As long as we keep improving we have a chance to do something. But as we all know the tournament is long."

Germany

Coach Dirk Bauermann: "We had our opportunities late in the game. We hit a couple of three and then that unfortunate play at the end of the game – we were that close to winning the game. I really have to applaud my team for coming back and playing as hard and well as we did in the second half. We showed tremendous heart and pride. But for us, there's no such thing as a good loss. They might have been the favourites but we could have beat that team and I think we should have."

Center Jan Jagla: “We have to play a lot better from the get go. I think we were a little too excited from the game last night. We just didn't come out the same way we did last night. You have to take that away from it. I think we were just missing the energy at the start to play the way we know we can. We didn't play offense and then our defense was shaky. And one thing led to another.”

Guard Pascal Roller: "It was pretty tough out there for us in the first half. But we are satisfied with our second half. We have to take with us the positive things. We played a great game yesterday and for about 20 minutes or so we played well tonight. So that's good as well."
