|Nevriye Yilmaz helped Fenerbahce stay perfect in the season with 24 points against the city rivals Galatasaray|
Fenerbahce didn't have it all their own way but turned on the style late and claimed a 77-58 win over Galatasaray on the opening night of EuroLeague Women Eighth-Finals action.
Unbeaten in the Regular Season, Fenerbahce have lost key players like Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor but excellent players have replaced them and the results haven't changed.
Nevriye Yilmaz was immense for Fener, scoring a game-high 24 points while teammate Angel McCoughtry led all players with four steals.
Fener scored the first eight points of the game with four different players registering points and they extended the lead to 14-2.
But Galatasaray quickly restored parity, going on a 16-4 run to tie the game at 18-18 with 53 seconds to go in the opening frame.
Gala, who only clinched their place in the play-offs with a victory in their last Qualifying Round game, stayed within striking distance as Seimone August poured in 14 first-half points.
They trailed 36-33 at the break.
Fenerbahce landed telling blows immediately after the restart, with a pair of McCoughtry free-throws sparking an 11-0 run.
They stayed in command the rest of the way.
