GAME REPORTPinar Karsiyaka are headed to the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge after an 85-67 romp at home against ETHA Encomi. The victory was a fourth in five Group G games for the Turkish club while their beaten opponents have a 2-3 record like fellow Nicosia side Apoel and BC Zadar. ETHA Encomi hit the road and play at Zadar next week while Apoel will be at home against Pinar Karsiyaka. Karsiyaka's David Holston led the way with 21 points, which included a go-ahead three-ball in the first quarter that sparked a 7-0 run and left the hosts with a 21-14 lead. The visitors kept the game close until the fourth quarter when they trailed by double digits the entire time. Anthony King couldn't have done much more for ETHA Encomi. He had 27 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and four steals - numbers that will make him a serious contender for player of the week honors. The three-point shooting was big in this game. While Karsiyaka connected on eight of 19, ETHA Encomi made just two of 14. The Cypriot club also didn't help themselves at the free-throw line, missing 12 of their 37 attempts. |
