Svetislav Pesic (Coach, Yugoslavia):
We were well-concentrated from the beginning. Especially, our defensive effort was tremendous. When this combined with 14/16 (88 %) 3-point shooting, we had the highest scoring half in EuroBasket 2001 with 66 points. Our opponent, Latvia, has produced the best teamwork in the tournament up to this match and has eliminated 2 medal candidates, namely Slovenia and Lithuania. 40 points is not the real difference between these two teams. However, outside shooting in the first half happened be the knock-out punch.
Predrag Drobnjak (Player, Yugoslavia):
I would like to emphasize on our defense in the first quarter. It was as significant as the outside shooting. This created a 20-point difference from which they could not come back.
Armands Kraulins (Coach, Latvia):
I would like to congratulate the Yugoslavian team for their great effort. They shocked us right from the tip-off by shooting an unbelievable percentage of 3 point shots and playing outstanding defense. We committed 29 turnovers and this is awfully too many when playing a quality team like Yugoslavia.
Raimonds Miglinieks (Player, Latvia):
All I can say about the match is that we played an outstanding team tonight. There is nothing to do other than getting ready for our next game.
