Delta Kosice lost 84-88 to Venezia in an exciting game after overtime. Italsoft Venezia confirmed it's role and started as strong as expected. In the 4th minute of the 1st quarter they were leading 12-3.
Delta I.C.P. was having trouble with their shooting percentage at this point. After a timeout Delta improved their offensive play and tightened the game by the end of the 1st 10 minutes.
The game was very close during the entire second quarter, with neither team leading by more the 3 points.
In the first half Venezia's best player was Alessandra Santos. She hit 6 shots from 7 and hauled in 5 rebounds. Delta's most offensive players were Hirakova with 13 points and Jalcova with 11.
The Italian team was also able to pick up after their missed shots, as they had 7 offensive rebounds, compared to only 2 offensive rebounds for Delta.
In the third quarter Venezia played smart and Delta had a hard time covering the offensive duo of Vicky Hall and Catherine Melain. Close to the end of the third period Italsoft was leading by 3 points, but Slavka Frniakova hit an three pointer a few seconds before the end of quarter buzzer (57:57).
But then Catherine Melain threw ball from the midcourt and stunned the audience in Kosice Arena as her shot hit the backboard and went in with the buzzer!
The game in 4th quarter was very nervous with lots of poor shooting and turnovers on both sides. 20 Seconds from the end the game was again tied 77:77. Kosice had the ball, but failed to score - overtime.
In the early minutes of the extra period the Italian team again used the experience of Vicky Hall and Cathy Melain, forcing Delta to shoot from behind the arc.
Italsoft took the lead with a 7 point advantage. Venezia controlled the game at the end of the overtime but allowed Delta to cut the margin to only 4 points.
