|Hanna Kalenta starred for Belarus by helping spark their intergral run|
Belarus rallied in the second half to stun undefeated the Netherlands 63-55 in the final game of Group A at the U20 European Championship Women on Saturday.
With this outcome, both teams, along with Serbia, carry one win into the Second Round where they will face Spain, Slovak Republic and Greece.
After Belarus held a slim 27-24 halftime lead, the Netherlands did well against their zone defence, getting easy baskets including some three-pointers to take 38-29 advantage. However, Belarus cut the deficit, before three unanswered triples from Hanna Kalenta and Ksenija Voishal sparked a 14-0 run that they used to regain the lead (56-47) and then hold on for an important win.
During a key 21-5 fourth quarter spurt, Belarus nailed half of their eight three-pointers, and out-hustled the Dutch with a 12-5 rebounding advantage.
Maryia Papova led in victory with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Natallia Pratskaila chipped in with 13 points.
Maxime Essenstam had 19 points for the Netherlands, while Loyce Bettonvil amassed her third double-double of the competition with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
