Serbia Make It Look Easy
Five players scored in double figures as Serbia booked their spot in the U18 European Championship Men quarterfinals with an 84-59 victory over Croatia in the Qualifying Round Group E.
Vasilje Micic and Stefan Popovski both scored 12 points while Nenad Milijenovic scored 11 points and Nemanja Krstic and Luka Mitrovic both added 10 points for Serbia, who improved to 3-2 in the group and advance to the last eight along with Croatia and Poland.
Croatia received 14 points from Mislav Brzoja and 11 points each from Ante Smolic and Marko Ramljak as they dropped to 3-2.
Serbia jumped ahead 10-2 but Croatia answered with a 16-6 run to pull ahead 18-16 and the game was tied 18-18 after one quarter.
Serbia went on a 14-3 run to start the second period for a 32-21 lead and the Serbs continued to extend their cushion, leading 47-36 at the break.
Serbia then went on an 18-3 surge in the third quarter to open a 25-point lead - 67-42. The Serbs led 71-47 after three quarters.
Croatia never really threatened in the fourth period as Serbia pushed the lead to as many as 29 points.
