Strong Defensive Effort Helps Dnipro Claim Victory

BC Dnipro’s defeated Holmer Norrkoping 66-56 in their EuroCup Challenge opener thanks in part to their smothering defense.

Holmer Norrkoping was held to 32 percent shooting from the field for the game.

Dnipro’s defensive effort was particularly evident in the second quarter then they held their Swedish opponents to seven points and thus we are able to take a 41-27 lead into halftime.

The fate of the game was essentially sealed from then on.

“We didn’t play good at first half of the game,” said Holmer coach Kelly Grant.

“We expected to see tough game,” added David John Bergstrom, who was 2-of-9 from the field for eight points.

Dnipro was led by Denis Ivanov’s 18 points.
