Serbia & Montenegro Win U20 Title

Serbia & Montenegro captured their first U20 European Championships title since 1998 as it beat tournament hosts Turkey 64-58.

Tadija Dragicevic made a free throw with 15 seconds left to give Serbia & Montenegro a four-point lead, and Nikola Pekovic dunked just before the final buzzer for the final score-line.

Ilyasova Claims MVP Prize

Turkey's Ersan Ilysasova was named MVP of the Ostchem U20 European Championship Men in Izmir on Sunday.

The 208 cm small forward was representing his country for the first time in two years, his last appearance coming during qualifiying action for the 2004 U18 European Championship Men.

Slovenia Grab Bronze Medal

Emir Preldzic scored 29 points as Slovenia secured the bronze medal at the OSTCHEM U20 European Championship Men with an 83-75 victory over Italy.

Preldzic scored five points in a crucial 9-0 fourth quarter run as Slovenia pulled ahead 72-63 with 3:28 remaining in the game.

Turkey Storm Into Final

Cenk Akyol scored 28 points as Turkey romped past Slovenia 96-62 to reach the final of the Ostchem U20 European Championships.

Tournament hosts Turkey will now face Serbia & Montenegro, who knocked off Italy 89-83 in double overtime.

Serbia & Montenegro Move To U20 European Final

Nenad Mijatovic made four free throws in the final 19 seconds as Serbia & Montenegro beat Italy 89-83 in double overtime to reach the final of the Ostchem U20 European Championship Men.

Mijatovic and Nikola Pekovic combined for 44 points for Miroslav Nikolic's team, who will play in Sunday's final against either Slovenia or hosts Turkey, who were playing the other semi-final later Saturday.

Kalve Makes Giessen Switch

Latvia's young star Ernests Kalve will play for Giessen 46ers next season after being loaned to the German club from Italian powerhouses Benetton Treviso.

Kalve is currently starring at the U20 European Championships, averaging 20.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.2 steals in his first five games in Turkey.
