Final: Russia 77 Spain 59

Russia’s dominance of the European Championship for U18 Women continues. For the 3rd time in a row and 4th time in 5 championships, Russia are European Champions at this age level.

They entered the final against Spain as the overwhelming favourites to win, having beaten all their opponents by an average margin of 31 points in the championship. A 2-point loss to Hungary withstanding, the Russians have looked like a team destined to be win the tournament.

Spain rode a dominant display from their backcourt to overcome Serbia & Montenegro in the second semi-final of the European Championship for U18 Women.

Guards Silvia Dominguez and Anna Cruz turned in great performances at both ends of the court to guide Spain to victory.

Spain will join Russia and Serbia & Montenegro in the semi-finals of the European Championship for U18 Women after a solid team performance gavem them a win over Ukraine.

In Olexandra Gorbunva, Ukraine possess the tournament’s most potent offensive weapon. Her 31-point haul was the highest in all games so far, but Spain knew that if they couldn’t shut her down, they would have to concentrate on her team-mates.
