Italy rolled into the Ostchem U20 European Championship quarter-final round on Sunday with a convincing display against Hungary.
Needing a win to advance in the tournament, Italy made the game safe with a dominant first half performance.
Jonatan Nir scored the go-ahead basket with less than two minutes remaining to lift Israel to a 72-68 come-from-behind victory over Hungary in Group B.
Following Friday's heart-thumping, 66-64 triumph over Italy, Israel looked to be headed for defeat one day later for at half-time they trailed 45-30.
A double-double from Emir Preldzic led Slovenia to a 92-60 rout of Hungary. The Zenica-born player collected 21 points and 10 rebounds in a game dominated throughout by Slovenia.
They raced into a 23-12 lead by the end of the first quarter, and it was all but over as a contest by half-time with Slovenia heading to the locker rooms with a 46-22 advantage.
