BC Moscow had to grind but they finally put paid to Chevakata in the fourth quarter on Thursday and won 68-58 to advance to the semi-finals of the EuroCup Women.
Playing at home, Moscow clinched a 12-point victory on aggregate.
BC Moscow will only have a slender advantage in the second leg of their EuroCup Women Quarter-Final tie at home to Chevakata next week after their 70-68 triumph in Vologda on Thursday.
But the first leg win will have left the Muscovites grinning from ear-to-ear after they battled back from a 19-point deficit with 5:34 remaining in the third quarter to stun Chevakata in a showdown of Russian sides.
Chevakata pulled off a terrific fourth-quarter comeback to stun Umana Reyer Venezia on Wednesday and beat the Italians to a place in the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals.
Trailing by 12 points on aggregate (59-52) at the start of the fourth quarter, the Russian team then held their hosts without a basket for nearly eight minutes and ended up winning 69-62.
