Ukraine Claim Fifth Place, Turkey Seventh

Alina Iagupova and Olesia Malashenko combined for 45 points to lead Ukraine to an 82-64 victory over Lithuania to claim fifth place at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Burcu Cigli and Safiye Karaman both scored 13 points and Ozge Yavas added 12 points as Turkey knocked off Serbia 68-46 to finish seventh in the tournament.

Lithuania And Ukraine To Play For Fifth

Lithuania and Ukraine will face off for fifth place at the U20 European Championship for Women after they beat Serbia and Turkey, respectively, in the 5th-8th place classification games.

Giedre Paugaite collected 19 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and four blocks in leading Lithuania to a 63-59 victory over Serbia. And Alina Iagupova had 26 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists, six steals and three blocks as Ukraine beat Turkey 74-55.

Spain Narrowly Avoid Upset At Hands Of Ukraine

Marta Xargay made two free throws with 6.5 seconds left to give Spain a spot in the semi-finals of the U20 European Championship for Women with a 75-74 victory over Ukraine, who saw Olesia Malashenko's jumper with 1.5 seconds remaining bounce off the rim and out.

Xargay had 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals while Leonor Rodriguez scored 20 points and Vega Gimeno added 14 points for Spain, who will play either hosts Latvia or Turkey for a spot in Sunday's final.

Ukraine Punch Quarter-Final Ticket

Olesia Malashenko and Alina Iagupova combined for 41 points as Ukraine booked the final spot for the quarter-finals - a date with Spain - by knocking off Poland 67-50 at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Malashenko had 20 points and 14 rebounds while Iagupova collected 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals in helping Ukraine finish fourth in the qualifying round Group E with a 2-3 record. Olga Maznichenko chipped in 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
