Russia overcame the disappointment of being beaten by Serbia & Montenegro by beating Israel in the Quarter-Final Round of the Under-18 European Championship.
The hosts edged Russia 75-70 in their opening last-eight clash on Tuesday but the Russians responded with a 93-79 victory over Israel.
Group C was the tightest of the four with three teams recording a 2-1 record.
However, it is Italy and Israel who advance with Slovenia missing out. Israel secured their place with a 59-56 defeat of Italy.
Slovenia scraped by Israel 69-66 and Greece hammered Belgium 96-67 in the final two games of the opening day's play in Belgrade at the U18 European Championship Men.
Slovenia looked to be well in control midway through the fourth quarter when Tadej Horvat buried a three-pointer for a 66-57 advantage.
