Gambrinus JME 75 vs. US Valenciennes Olympic 56

Czech side Gambrinus Brno produced a dominant performance tonight at home to comfortably beat the EuroLeague Women reigning champions Valenciennes. Brno's win sees them take second place in Group A, with a game in hand of leaders Lietuvos Telekomas.

Brno had all facets of their game on display against the French visitors. On offense they dished 16 assists (to just 4 from Valenciennes) and they held their opponents to 32% shooting from the floor.

The game remained close in the first period, but by the second quarter it was clear that the game would go to Brno. They turned a 4-point advantage into a 19-point lead at halftime and clearly held the ascendancy.

Brno was led by a balanced scoring effort. Taj McWilliams had a team high 13 points, while Eva Viteckova, Jana Vesela and Alena Kovacova scored 11 apiece.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Gambrinus JME vs. US Valenciennes Olympic

Jan Bobrovsky, Head Coach Brno:

"I am very satisfied vith this victory against last year's champions. We played excellent defense in the second quarter. The French team had no space to shoot. We were very well preapered for the game from video and we knew all systems of our rival. In the second half the French team played better in offense but the result was already decided."

Laurent Buffard, Head Coach Valenciennes:

"We had a good start. But in the second quarter we made a lot of turnovers. We tried to be more aggresive in the second half but our shooting was poor."
