Lithuania recorded their third win in a row in the Omnitel U16 European Championship Men after a 75-65 victory over Montenegro that punches their ticket to the Quarter-Finals.
The win lifts Lithuania to a 2-2 record, while Montenegro dropped to 1-3 and down to the 9-12 classification games.
This result locks the four qualifiers from Group E to the quarter-finals.
Poland, Russia, Turkey and Lithuania are among the top eight teams, and the final standings will be decided in the remaining games.
Tauras Jogela and Mantas Mockevicius had 18 points each with seven an six rebounds respectively. Rokas Narkevicius had 16 points with four hits from distance.
Nikola Ivanovic led Montenegro with 24 points and Marko Mugosa had 18 with eight steals.
Jogela had a good feel right from the tip off to make it a 9-2 local lead.
Montenegro scored their second bucket only after five minutes, but too many turnovers stopped Lithuania from taking off.
Filip Knezevic scored inside to make it a four point game, but Mockevicius scored early in the second quarter and made it 23-10 after 11 minutes.
Narkevicius hit back-to-back from long range and Jogela dunked to set the arena on fire, as the teams marched to the locker room with Lithuania up 41-25.
Tomas Lekunas and Jogela pushed the gap to 21 midway in the third quarter, 51-30, while Ivanovic tried to keep his team in the picture and make it just a 16 point game after three quarters, 61-45.
Ivanovic and Mugosa scored from close and far range to cut it only to 11 inside the last five minutes of the game, and a minute later to only six, 67-61, but it was already too late.
Mockevicius score two jumpers that allowed Lithuania some air to breath, enough to secure the win.
Lithuania will take on Italy tomorrow while Montenegro will try to stop the Polish train.
