Turkey have snuck into the Second Round of the Samsung U18 European Championship, defeating France 66-56, leaving Les Blues to nervously await the result of the Latvia-Bulgaria game to be played later on Saturday night.

Thanks to their 10-point victory Turkey, along with Latvia, are now not only assured a spot in the Second Round but will also finish second in the Group if Bulgaria lose to the hosts.

If the Bulgarians emerge victorius though, France will have to settle with fighting to avoid relegation to Division B.

Taking the lead in the fourth minute of the game, Turkey had developed a healthy 10-point advantage by the half on the back of a solid three-point shooting display as they went five-for-eight from beyond the arc.

Benjamin Sene lead a French rally in the third quarter as Les Blues fought back to be within four points late in the frame.

But early in the final quarter, France faded as Turkey began penetrating inside the paint more often, pulling away to win comfortably by 10 points.

Kenan Sipahi and Cedi Osman topped Turkish scoring with 11 points each.

Tayfun Erulku ended with 10.

Sene finished as the game's leading scorer with 22 points.
