Diot And France Warm Up For Riga // 27.06.2008

Highly-rated guard Antoine Diot headlines the 16-strong list of players named by France coach Richard Billant in his preliminary squad ahead of the U20 European Championship for Men in Riga, Latvia. 

The 1.90m Diot led France at last year's U18 European Championship in Madrid to a sixth-place finish, pouring in almost 15 points per game.

Serbia warmed up for this year's U20 European Championship with a game against China at the Stankovic Cup.

Yao Ming played for the Chinese and had 11 points in a 96-72 win over the Serbians.

French U20 Win Against Latvia, Belgium // 07.07.2008

France coach Richard Billant has high hopes for his young Blues at next month's U20 European Championship in Riga, Latvia, and nothing that happened in the team's first two friendlies over the weekend will have dampened his enthusiasm.

The Blueberries destroyed Latvia 97-66 on Saturday in Boulogne sur Mer and followed that up with a 101-60 mauling of Belgium on Sunday.

Aranzana Names Preliminary Under-20 Group // 02.07.2008

Spain coach Gustavo Aranzana has named a 14-strong preliminary squad for the U20 European Championship in Latvia.

Power forward/center Victor Claver of Pamesa Valencia and shooting guard Marc Rubio of DKV Joventut are in the group that will gather for the first time on Monday in Valdemoro.

Nick Calathes is relishing the opportunity to try out for the Greece Under-20 team.

A college basketball star in America with the Florida Gators, the 6ft 6in Calathes is a third-generation Greek who was the co-SEC Freshman of the Year and the SEC's Newcomer of the Year this past season after averaging 15.3 points per game while setting a school record with 221 assists.

Alilovic Names Slovenia U20 Preliminary Squad // 16.06.2008

Slovenia coach Miro Alilovic has picked a 17-strong preliminary squad for this summer's U20 European Championship in Riga and there are a couple of familiar names  in it.

Klemen Lorbek, the younger brother of Slovenia internationals Erazem and Domen, has been included. Also named is Zoran Dragic, whose brother Goran last summer helped fire Slovenia into July's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Greece.
