Career: Broceni Riga (Latvia-LBL, 1995-2001), BK Skonto Riga (Latvia-LBL, 2001-03), TBB Trier (Germany-Bundesliga, 2003-04), TSK Würzburg (Germany-Bundesliga, 2004-05), Azovmash Mariupol (Ukraine-Superleague, 2005).
The son of former USSR star Valdis Valters and older brother of Kristaps. A tough legacy to live with but with patience, Valters has made his way to the national team... This very dangerous three-point shooter has spent most of his career in his hometown of Riga... After a convincing season with Skonto in 2002-03, during which he averaged double figures in scoring both in the LBL and in the FIBA Champions Cup, he took his game to Germany where he was a key contributor for Trier... Unfortunately for him things did not go as well this year with Würzbürg. After leaving the team in January, Valters spent a few weeks in Ukraine, just enough time to show in the FIBA Europe League that he is not the kind of player you want to leave alone behind the arc : 15/34 in 8 games !
