Unics Kazan have been on a mission all season in the FIBA Europe League. Today it was “mission accomplished” and they overpowered Greek side Maroussi to win the first European trophy in the club’s history.

Russia has been a happy hunting ground for Hapoel Tel Aviv this season. They defeated Ural Great early on in the FIBA Europe League in Perm and beat Dynamo Moscow away in the play-offs. Today in Kazan, they beat Ural Great for the 2nd time to claim 3rd place in the FEL.

Maroussi Athens will join home side Unics Kazan in the FIBA Europe League final on Saturday, after beating Hapoel Tel Aviv. The Greeks put on a remarkable 5-minute display in the third quarter in which they turned a 9-point defecit into an 11-point advantage and took Tel Aviv totally out of the game.

He has known the taste of victory since before his debut with the Soviet Union national team at the 1968 World Championships in Uruguay. He honed his taste for it through four European Championship victories and as a key player in the Soviet defeat of the United States in the 1972 Olympic Final.

Russia: Ural-Great Clain Cup Triumph Over CSKA

FIBA Europe League side Ural-Great Perm stunned CSKA Moscow to clinch the Russian Cup with a shock 105-99 win on their home court. Ksistof Lavrinovic had 24 points to inspire Ural-Great to victory, while a game-high 26 points from Marcus Brown and 25 from Jon Holden were not enough to save CSKA.
