Since making his debut for the Azzurri against Turkey in July 2007, Bargnani has twice featured in the final stages of EuroBasket, in 2007 in Spain and 2011 in Lithuania, while also taking part in the qualification campaigns of 2009 and 2010. He missed the 2013 edition due to a respiratory infection. Previously, he also represented Italy at U16, U18 and U20 levels. He began his career with Azzurra Roma before moving to Treviso in 2003, where he helped deliver the Italian league title in 2006 and the Italian Cup in 2004 and 2006, while also winning the Euroleague's Rising Star trophy.
