Nicolai Simon's jump to ALBA Berlin as a 19-year-old catapulted him into the spotlight and his first season was a huge success with 12 minutes of action each night in a league where, at the time, Germans were struggling for minutes. Things went considerably quieter after the ferocious start and it looked like Simon might be doomed to stay a role player. Last season, after he made the switch to Bayreuth, things started looking much brighter again. He upped his minutes and nearly doubled his scoring behind a deadly three-point shot, making 47.5% of his outside shots. Simon is not the best in setting up his teammates, but he has good size for a point guard and his accuracy is what could make the difference when battling with Bastian Doreth for the roster spot that became vacant due to Dennis Schröder's absence.
