|Evanthia Maltsi was firing on all cylinders for 23 points in the rout of Sopron|
CCC Polkowice kept alive their bid to reach the next stage of the EuroLeague Women by blowing out UNIQA Euroleasing Sopron on Wednesday night in Poland.
Evina Maltsi and Valeriya Musina combined for 18 of Polkowice's 26 points in the first quarter when they took command and the Polish club rolled to a 83-50 victory.
Maltsi finished with a game-high 23 points and Musina ended up with 12.
Sharnee Zoll added 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
In snapping a two-game losing streak, Polkowice improved to 4-6.
The result means Polkowice qualify for the play-offs, since they won the heads-up with Sopron.
The game was knotted at 8-8 when Zoll buried a jumper and Maltsi followed with a three-pointer for a 13-8 Polkowice lead with 5:49 to go in the opening frame.
Hanna Zavecz hit a jump shot for Sopron, but Maltsi sank two free-throws in reply.
Polkowice finished the first quarter on a 13-5 run for a 26-15 advantage and they extended that to 45-23 with 2:56 to go in the first half after Musina drilled a shot from the arc to take her points haul to 10.
Sopron faced a huge deficit for the remainder of the contest and dropped to 3-8.
