Greece may not have made it past the group stages but coach Giorgos Tsitskaris and his team have at least exited the competition on a winning note.
Greece coach Giogos Tsitskaris knows a sure fire way to accelerate the progress of the women´s national team.
Having just watched his side win their second game of the European Championships 76-68 over Ukraine, Tsitskaris told PA International: "If we could play as a club for a year, against other clubs in Greece, we could be much better."
Title holders France avoided missing out on the quarter-final round of the European Championships thanks to a narrow 75-70 win over determined Greece.
The tournament hosts battled bravely but a late fightback came up just short in the final minute.
Greece faced a nervous evening last night after their loss to Serbia and Monetenegro. They were forced to wait for the result of Czech Republic France, to see whether their Championship dreams were over.
