Career: BC Moscow (Russia-Superleague B, 2006-09), UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia-Superleague, 2009-10), Dynamo GUVD (Russia-Superleague, 2010-11)
Tatiana Petrushina doesn't need to do anything too dramatic to impress Coach Sokolovsky since he has been coaching her all season at club level with Dynamo GUVD so will be in the perfect position to decide whether the 21 year old is ready for a call to the senior National Team. After spending time playing with the mega stars at UMMC Ekaterinburg albeit mainly in practice rather than in games a couple of season ago, Petrushina has reaped the rewards after a strong first season in Novosibirsk. She has played impressively during the league and also in a first season of EuroCup Women action, showing she may well deliver against the huge potential she showed playing for Russia at youth level. She scored almost 13 points per game last summer at the U20 European Championship Women and only failing to record double-digits once to lead her country to a gold medal. Now the talented young forward is pushing to break into the senior team and impose herself as one of the main players in what is likely to be a new generation for Russia in the next few years. |
