Career: Lemminkainen Klaipeda (Lithuania-LMKL, 2006-2009), VICI Aistes Kaunas (Lithuania-LMKL, 2010-11), Good Angels Kosice (Slovak Republic - Extraliga, 2011), came back to VICI Aistes Kaunas (Lithuania-LMKL) in March 2011
Marina Solopova has really exploded during the last 12 months and shown just what a rising star she is within European basketball circles. She was in the running to land the FIBA Europe Young Player Of The Year award and that is not surprising after her exploits in EuroLeague Women with VICI Aistes Kaunas. After a slow start, she had a great season and was even snapped up by Good Angels Kosice to play in the Quarter-Finals after Kaunas were eliminated. She continued her great form in the Slovak Republic with three double-digit scoring performances against Bourges in their series. While last summer she played only 12 minutes during qualifying, she has shown she possibly deserves more when she steps out at what will be her first EuroBasket Women tournament. A hugely exciting talent who can score both inside and out, Solopova is also a good decision maker and is dangerous coming off screens or putting the ball on the floor and penetrating to the basket. |
